MANILA, Philippines — Fire broke out in a residential area in Manila on Sunday afternoon, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Manila.

The fire started at 3:44 p.m. at the Telecom Compound in Barangay 310 in Santa Cruz, Manila, the Manila BFP told INQUIRER.net.

The fourth alarm was raised on the fire at 4:13 p.m., only minutes after the fire broke out. It was declared under control at 4:58 p.m. Authorities declared the fire out at 6:04 p.m.

According to the Manila BFP, with a fourth alarm declared, all the firetrucks in Manila dispatched, along with those in adjacent districts — in this case, firetrucks from Caloocan and Quezon City were also deployed.

Around 40 families, composed of over 100 individuals, were affected by the fire, according to Manila Public Information Office chief Julius Leonen.

The families are being accommodated at the nearby Bascom Court (Kapitana Thelma M. Lim Sports Complex).

One person suffered a second-degree burn, while a pregnant woman was transferred from the nearby Fabella Hospital to the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center after giving birth.
