Luzon grid under 7-hour yellow alert — NGCP

MANILA, Philippines — The Luzon grid will be under yellow alert for seven hours on Friday, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines  (NGCP) said.

In a Twitter post, the NGCP announced that the country’s biggest power grid will be under yellow alert from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A “yellow alert” is raised when a grid’s power reserve, which is the difference between supply and demand, is below the required level, according to NGCP.

The available capacity of the Luzon grid is at 10,962 megawatts (MW) while peak demand is at 11,134 MW, the NGCP said.

“Details on the cause to be announced by the Department of Energy (DOE) later in the day,” the NGCP said.  (Editor: Mike U. Frialde)
