MANILA, Philippines – Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) on Thursday signed a memorandum of agreement that will grant selected student-residents of the city a 50 percent tuition discount.
Under the memorandum, 12 qualified students from each barangay will be granted the discount.
Manila has 896 barangays.
Sixth District Councilor and Committee on Education and Sports chairperson Princess Abante said first-time EAC enrollees who pass the entrance examination for freshmen and transferees may qualify for the scholarship.
“Qualifiers for the scholarship may apply for any course or program at EAC except medicine programs,” said Abante during the signing of the memorandum.
“They only need to get endorsements from the Liga ng mga Barangay,” she added.
Abante also noted that grantees of the discount should have no grade lower than 80 percent every semester.
Mayor Moreno was joined in the signing ceremony by Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, Abante, Liga ng mga Barangay officials, EAC president Dr. Jose Paulo Campos, EAC marketing chief Robin Reyes, EAC student affairs head Estefanio Boquiron, and EAC vice president for administration Dr. Lorenzo Lorenzo.
