Drive vs illegal parking in Lapu

VEHICLES illegally parked near vulcanizing shops will be the next target of the Lapu-Lapu City government’s traffic campaign.

Traffic police said yesterday that they wouldn’t hesitate to tow off vehicles left in no-parking zones where the vehicles are being serviced by vulcanizing shops.

Mayor Paz Radaza said the removal of illegally parked vehicles would be applied fairly on everyone including herself.

“Ignorance of the law excuses no one. You have to be a role model,” Radaza said.

The Lapu-Lapu City government started implementing the towing ordinance on May 16 to clear city’s streets of illegally parked vehicles.

“No excuses will be entertained. A no-parking zone will always be a tow- away zone anytime of the day,” Radaza said.

Radaza assured that she will review the contract of the private towing contractor if she receives complaints of abuses by their personnel.
