MANILA, Philippines — A partial lunar eclipse that will be visible in the country will occur on July 17, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Wednesday.
In its website, Pagasa said the partial lunar eclipse, or when part of the Earth’s shadow covers the moon, will begin at 2:42 a.m. and will end at 8:19 a.m.
In Manila, Pagasa said the moon will rise at 6:04 p.m. on July 16 and will set at 5:38 a.m. on July 17.
The agency said lunar eclipses are safe to watch, and observers will not need to use protective filters for their eyes.
It also said a binocular will help magnify the view and make the reddish color of the moon brighter.
The eclipse will also be seen in Australasia, Asia except its northeastern part, Africa, Europe except North Scandinavia, and most of South America, Pagasa said. (Editor: Mike U. Frialde)
