Pregnant woman, 10 others nabbed in Cotabato City anti-drugs ops

COTABATO CITY –– An anti-narcotics official was stunned to find a pregnant woman among the clients of a drug den here during an anti-drugs operation Monday night.

“I am sad a pregnant woman was into it,” Director Juvenal Azurin of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM), said following the raid that led to the arrest of three women, one of them four-months pregnant, and eight men in a drug den in Purok Pagkakaisa, Barangay Poblacion 2.

The eight were allegedly caught in the act of sniffing drugs.

Recovered from the raid were four sachets of shabu (crystal meth) and empty sachets with traces of the prohibited drugs.

Police said the area had been subjected to surveillance and casing operations.

The suspects are detained at PDEA custodial facility while charges for violation the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against them.
