MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck Lila, Bohol in the early hours of Tuesday, the Philippines Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake struck at 12:59 a.m.
The epicenter was traced 41 kilometers southeast of Lila.
Phivolcs said that the temblor was of tectonic origin and had a 551-kilometer depth of focus.
The quake was also recorded at Instrumental Intensity I in Borongan City, Eastern Samar
Residents living in the area have been warned of possible aftershocks.
No significant damage is expected, Phivolcs added. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
