President Duterte has named retired Gen. Ricardo Morales to the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) board of directors, shortly after choosing him president of the agency currently rocked by alleged irregularities in the disbursement of its funds.
Morales was designated to PhilHealth’s board to represent indirect contributors.
MWSS appointee
Morales, whom the President had earlier appointed to the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) before naming him to PhilHealth, had once served as president and chief executive officer of the Armed Forces and Police Mutual Benefit Association Inc., which provides insurance, investments and affordable housing and financial products to uniformed personnel.
Duterte also appointed Police Brig. Gen. Allan Iral as the new director of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology to replace Deogracias Tapayan who retired from government service.
Special envoy
The President meanwhile named businessman Amable Aguiluz V of the AMA Group of Companies as special presidential envoy to the Gulf Cooperation Council from July 1, 2019, to June 30, 2020.
Appointed deputy national statistician of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) was Lourdines dela Cruz, the current officer in charge of the PSA’s Legal Services Division.
The other appointees are: Jon Castro as Clark Development Corp. board member, and Woodrow Maquiling and Rowena Montecillo as director IV of the Department of Tourism.
