MANILA, Philippines — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) lifted Thursday afternoon the yellow alert it placed over the Luzon grid due to “receding system demand.”
A yellow alert was supposed to be in place from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. since the Luzon grid has been experiencing thinning power supply, but NGCP lifted it as early as 2:47 p.m.
“Yellow alert for the Luzon grid has been lifted by NGCP due to receding system demand,” NGCP explained in a tweet.

Earlier in the day, NGCP raised the yellow alert for Luzon grid as its available capacity registered at 11,288 megawatts while peak demand was expected to reach 10,824 megawatts, which would leave a significantly low reserve of 464 megawatts. (Editor: Katherine G. Adraneda)
