LPA expected to enter PAR this weekend – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines – A low pressure area (LPA) which may intensify into a tropical depression is forecast to enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) this weekend, the state weather bureau said Thursday.

The LPA was last spotted 1,295 kilometers east of Mindanao, weather specialist Gener Quitlong of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Pagasa said that the southwest monsoon is also affecting Luzon and Visayas despite the absence of a weather disturbance inside PAR.

Metro Manila and the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro and Palawan will experience monsoon rains.

The Ilocos region, Visayas, the rest of Central Luzon, Mimaropa  and Calabarzon will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
