SAN JOSE CITY –– A suspected drug peddler was killed after reportedly engaging policemen in a gunfight here on Tuesday.
Police Lt. Col. Heryl Bruno, city police chief, said Joselito Gonzales, resisted arrest during a buy-bust operation, resulting in a brief chase and shootout with anti-narcotics agents in Barangay Caanawan at 9:15 p.m.
Bruno said responding policemen shot the suspect who fired at them using a .38-caliber revolver.
The shootout happened a few minutes after another drug suspect, who was identified as Isagani Domingo, was arrested in a separate buy-bust operation in the same village at 8:40 p.m.
Domingo yielded two sachets of “shabu” (crystal meth) during the operation, police said. Armand Galang
