According to recent reports of the Metro Manila Reporting and Analysis System of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, of the 225,797 vehicles involved in road accidents last year, 51.91 percent or 117,225 were cars.
Of this number, 95 resulted in fatalities, 8,121 resulted in nonfatal injuries, and 109,009 resulted in damage to property.
Motorcycles ranked second in terms of vehicle type with the most number of crashes recorded, accounting for 12.95 percent or 29,261 motorcycles but with 224 fatalities. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
