GSIS: Gov’t agencies must submit remittance documents electronically

MANILA, Philippines –Beginning next month, government agencies are required to submit their remittance documents electronically, the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) announced on Tuesday.

GSIS president and general manager Jesus Clint Aranas said that government agencies should download their billing fees at the GSIS’ web-based facility called Electronic Billing and Collection System (eBCS) on the first day of the month.

After which, agencies should upload their respective remittance lists on or before the 10th day of the following month.

“The complete shift to paperless transactions reduces paper production cost and yields savings in government resources,” Aranas said in a statement.

“More than that, a paperless working environment enhances data organization, storage, and retention which are all vital in  protecting the privacy and security of members’ records,” he added.

According to Aranas, the eBCS aims to ensure a timely posting of GSIS member’s premium and loan payments. It was introduced back in July 2014.

“After almost five years since eBCS was implemented, remitting officers of government agencies have been adequately trained and should be prepared by now to maximize the use of the system.  Thus, hard copies of remittance files are no longer necessary,” Aranas said. (Editor: Jonathan P. Vicente)
