MANILA, Philippines – Police arrested eight drug suspects, including a minor and seized an estimated P2.1 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) following an anti-illegal drugs operation in Quezon City Monday night.
Arrested were Mary Jane Mariano, 25; Efren Zafra, 27; Teofilo Zafra, 50; Elmer Howit, 32; Vina Baldovina,37; Mercylinda Miron, 38; John Erick Tupaz, 18 and a 17 year-old boy.
Operatives of the Quezon City Police District’s Batasan police station – Drug Enforcement Unit apprehended the suspects after a buy-bust operation along Lansones Street in Area A, Barangay Payatas at around 9:30 p.m.
The drug suspects yielded 310 grams of shabu with a street value of P2,108,000; a mobile phone, bag, P1,000 cash and a weighing scale.
The minor was brought to the Department of Social Welfare and Development while the seven suspects were detained at Batasan police station.
The seven suspects will be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
