FDA warns vs 17 unregistered food products

MANILA, Philippines — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned the public against consuming 17 unregistered food products whose safety and quality could not be guaranteed.

In four separate advisories, Health Undersecretary Rolando Enrique Domingo said that the food items had not been issued certificates of product registration by the FDA.

“The consumption of such violative products may pose health risks to consumers,” Domingo added.

Among these products were 7Grains Vegetable Bouillon Cubes, Chocobambam, Crusty’S Salted Egg Fish Skin, Joy Pandan Gulaman, Stay Below Zero purified tube ice and water, Mother’s Best Calamansi Philippine Lemon Extract, Tasty Palamig Powder Mix Blue Lemonade and Nash 3-in-1 white coffee.

Also flagged were Lemon Grass iced tea calamansi with honey, Lemon Grass iced tea stevia, sugar-free and food supplements Bioherbs Healing Tiki-Tiki, Nature’s Bounty Acidophilus Probiotic, and Colloidal Silver.

In the case of Simply Wonders products Lemon Plus with Honey, Choco+ 8-in-1 blend, Purple Corn 18-in-1 coffee and Purple Corn Juice 6-in-1, Domingo said the claims made in their advertisements were “false, deceptive and misleading.”

These products supposedly “inhibit diabetic kidney damage” and help one avoid cancer, heart diseases and hypertension, among others.
