MANILA, Philippines — The Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) has assured an impartial investigation on the corruption allegations being hurled against Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Director General Harold Clavite.
The embattled PIA chief earlier asked PACC to look into the allegations made through anonymous letters sent to his superior, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar.
PIA is the government’s primary development communications arm under the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).

In a text message to INQUIRER.net, PACC Commissioner Greco Belgica said “no special treatment” will be given to Clavite as the anti-corruption body starts its investigation.
Belgica also said that Clavite has already agreed to provide PACC a copy of his Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net worth (SALN) and a bank account waiver.
“We asked him to submit his SALN (and) a waiver of his bank account. He agreed. We will investigate fairly and base our findings on solid evidence,” Belgica told INQUIRER.net Monday.
Among the allegations against Clavite were the supposed splitting of a contract for the purchase of “Asean Komiks,” misuse of funds for hotel accommodations, irregularities in the production of information materials for the Employees’ Compensation Commission, and anomalies in the airing of a government promotional material called “Like Pinas.”
Clavite has dismissed the allegations as a mere “demolition job.”
