The provincial government of Palawan was established following the Filipino-American War by virtue of Act No. 422.
The province was then called Paragua and the seat of government was in Cuyo town.
Two years later, the name Paragua was changed to Palawan, and Puerto Princesa became its capital.
Considered the Philippines’ last frontier, Palawan has emerged as one of the prime tourist destinations in the country for its beautiful white sand beaches.
Palawan’s population in 2015, excluding independent Puerto Princesa City, was 849,469.

A business hub in Palayan City, capital of Nueva Ecija province, was designated as an information technology (IT) park to be known as the Palayan City Government Center and Business Hub through Proclamation No. 526 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte.
The 3-hectare complex houses a government center, call centers and schools offering IT, computer proficiency and business process outsourcing (BPO) management courses.
Two buildings were built for BPO firms. Developed and built by Alloy MTD, a Malaysian conglomerate, under a public-private partnership deal, the IT park was seen to drive economic growth and generate jobs in Palayan City and Nueva Ecija.
