WITH 2011 coming to an end, pro-life advocates have something to cheer about.
Dr. Rene Josef Bullecer, Human Life International director, said they are happy that at least the Reproductie Health bill remains pending in Congress.
“It is a big celebration,” Bullecer told Cebu Daily News.
He admitted that there is a huge chance that the RH bill will be approved next year.
“Malacañang has the numbers, the machinery, and the funds. We will not be complacent,” Bullecer said. He was referring to President Aquino’s support to the RH bill.
Bullecer said pro-life advocates will hold several rallies next year to sustain their campaign against the bill and send a message to the president.
“We believe divine intervention always comes in whenever the bill is about to be passed. We will triple our efforts,” he said.
The RH bill or presently known as the Responsible Parenthood, Reproductive Health and Population and Development Act of 2011 is a consolidated bill authored by eight members of the Lower House.
The Church continues to lobby against the RH bill, whose provisions include public access to government-funded supplies of condoms and contraceptives.
Bullecer said pro-life advocates will hold a National Leaders Summit next year to discuss on how to go about plans to pass the bill. Reporter Ador Mayol
