SAN PEDRO CITY –– Classes at the Bauan Technical High School were suspended on Friday after about 40 students were taken to the hospital.
Lt. Col. Joemar Labiano, Bauan police chief, in a phone interview, said several ambulances brought the students to hospitals, after some of them complained of “dizziness” or “had passed out” this morning.
Town officials initially believed it was due to the continuing “hot weather,” Labiano said, as about 60 students from the same school were also hospitalized on Thursday afternoon.
“Yesterday, it happened around 2 p.m. during the earthquake drill. It’s very hot right now here,” he added.
He said none of the casualties had to stay long in the hospital, after recovering quickly and being sent home. Maricar Cinco (Editor: Leti Z. Boniol)
