Be like Rizal, Villar tells Laguna officials

CALAMBA CITY — Sen. Cynthia Villar asked newly elected officials in this city to keep their campaign promises and show their constituents that they made the right choice.

“We need to prove that they are right in trusting us,” said Villar, who swore in city officials during the commemoration of Dr. Jose Rizal’s 158th birth anniversary on Wednesday.

Villar said local officials need not look elsewhere for a role model. “Almost all of the traits that a leader should possess is in Rizal—intelligent, educated, brave, respectable, and most especially, his love for country even in the face of death,” she said. —KIMMY BARAOIDAN
