Luzon grid under red, yellow alerts anew on Thursday, June 20

MANILA, Philippines – The Luzon grid will be placed under red alert for four hours on today, Thursday, June 20, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said.

In a tweet, NGCP said that the red alert would be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The grid will also be on yellow alert  from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The red and yellow alerts will be in effect due to thin energy reserves.

Current available capacity is 11,217 megawatts, while peak demand is predicted at 10,995 megawatts, leaving a reserve of 222 megawatts.

Last Wednesday, the Luzon grid was likewise placed under red and yellow alerts. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
