Awol Army man caught with ‘shabu’ in QC buy-bust

MANILA, Philippines — A member of the Philippine Army who had gone Awol (absent without leave) was arrested for drugs by Quezon City policemen on Tuesday night.

According to Police Brig. Gen. Joselito Esquivel Jr., the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, his men seized eight sachets of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) from Eril Laustristica, also known as Toto, during a buy-bust operation on Aurora Boulevard corner Edsa in Cubao, Quezon City, around 10:30 p.m.

The 33-year-old Laustristica was arrested along with Daisy Prutente. Both have been charged with violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The two were among 16 drug suspects arrested in round-the-clock operations conducted on Tuesday night by 12 police stations of the QCPD.

The suspects yielded a total of 32 sachets of suspected shabu.
