MANILA, Philippines – The Luzon grid was placed under yellow and red alerts for a total of 14 hours on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
In a Twitter post, the NGCP said the biggest power grid in the country would be under yellow alert from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and again on 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., a total of seven hours.
The same grid will be under red alert for seven hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A “yellow alert” is raised when a grid’s power reserve, which is the difference between supply and demand, is below the required level, the NGCP said.
Meanwhile, a “red alert” is raised when the power supply situation worsens.
The NGCP said the available capacity of the said power grid is at 10,962 megawatts (MW) while peak demand is at 11,134 MW. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
