MANILA, Philippines — A drug suspect died on Sunday after his fellow inmates hit him inside the detention cell in Sampaloc.
Manila Police District Homicide chief Capt. Henry Navarro identified the victim as Billy James Jardiel, 35, who was allegedly diagnosed with blood infection called “sepsis.”
He said Jardiel had “hallucinations” and “had gone wild,” which prompted the detainees to pacify him by beating him up.
Jardiel was rushed to the Ospital ng Sampaloc but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Navarro said they will file homicide charges against the detainees involved in the mauling incident. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
