Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the conflagration as of posting time.

No casualties or serious injuries were reported.

It was learned that at least two or three families were residing in most of the burned houses.

Residents in the area said the fire quickly spread as firefighters were slowed down by narrow alleys and traffic congestion leading to the site of the blaze.

Looting was likewise reported.

The city government immediately extended emergency assistance to the fire victims.

Last February, more than 20 houses were also destroyed by fire in nearby Barangay Market View. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
