NBI told to investigate attack on Mindoro prosecutor
MANILA, Philippines -The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) joins the investigation into the attack against a lady prosecutor in Oriental Mindoro.
“She’s still in the hospital fighting for her life. We don’t have enough info yet regarding the possible motive. I have instructed the NBI, through Director [Dante] Gierran and the regional director, to immediately gather evidence and conduct a thorough investigation,” Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said.
Provincial Prosecutor Josephine Caranzo was shot Monday morning while entering her residence.
She sustained five gunshot wounds to the head and body.
Justice Undersecretary Markk Perete said the prosecutor will undergo a CT scan or even surgery./gsg
