LEGAZPI CITY –– Two persons died and three others were injured in a road accident in Casiguran town in Sorsogon province on Monday morning.
Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, spokesperson of the Bicol police, said at 4:20 a.m. in Barangay Trece Martirez, a Mitsubishi Montero bumped a tricycle bound for Sorsogon City driven by Ricky Detecio and carrying passengers Erma Detecio and John Ray Detecio.
The Montero, driven by Ruel Esmas, was traversing in the same direction.
Due to the strong impact, Ricky lost control of the tricycle and entered the opposite lane.
When a bus from the opposite lane swerved to the left to avoid the tricycle, it hit an approaching motorcycle head-on.
The motorcycle was driven by Elmer Jarque with backrider Rammil Lareza. Lareza and Jarque died on the spot.
The driver and the tricycle passengers were injured and taken to the Sorsogon Provincial Hospital for treatment.
The Monterto driver was arrested while the unidentified bus driver fled.
