ILIGAN CITY, Lanao del Norte, Philippines — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Northern Mindanao and the city veterinarian’s office here have seized canned pork from China in compliance with the ban on all pork-based products from countries affected by African swine fever (ASF).
The seized items were confiscated from the grocery sections of two malls and a big local merchandise store.
The city veterinarian, Dr. Dahlia Valera, said they conducted the seizure operation on Friday because the stores did not heed the FDA order banning the sale of pork products from ASF-affected countries. —Divina Suson
