MANILA, Philippines — Commuters are in for a treat as the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) will give free rides on June 12, in celebration of Independence Day.
In a Twitter post Friday, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), which manages LRT-2, announced that commuters could avail of free rides from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
“LIBRENG SAKAY: Nakikiisa ang @OfficialLRTA sa paggunita ng ika-121 na anibersaryo ng ARAW ng KALAYAAN kaya handog namin ang LIBRENG SAKAY sa Miyerkules,” the LRTA wrote.
Similarly, the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) and Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) have earlier announced they will be giving free rides to commuters also on Independence Day.

Malacañang has proclaimed June 12 as a regular holiday.
