ZAMBOANGA CITY—Three suspected members of the homegrown terror group Abu Sayyaf had been arrested in separate operations on Wednesday, according to police.
Police Brig. Gen. Froilan Quidilla, police regional chief for Zamboanga Peninsula, said Jamik Ibrahim, Majuk Amil and Hashim Aming were separately arrested in counterterrorism operations by police and National Bureau of Investigation agents from Manila.
Aming was the first to fall, leading to the capture of the two other suspects.
Aming, according to police, was involved in the kidnapping of six Jehovahs Witnesses in Patikul, Sulu in 2001. Ibrahim and Amil were involved in the kidnapping of workers of Golden Harvest in June 2001.
Quidilla said the three suspects will be brought to Manila on Friday. (Editor: Tony Bergonia)
