MANILA, Philippines — In celebration of Independence Day on June 12, commuters who will take Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) and Light Rail Transit 1 (LRT-1) will be given free rides, the two train managements announced on Thursday.
LRT line 1 Corporate Communications head Rochelle Gamboa confirmed to INQUIRER.net that it would be offering free rides during the peak hours.
Peak hours meaning between 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This is when passenger volume is at its peak in various stations.
Meanwhile, the management of MRT line 3 said in an advisory that it would also be offering free rides to the public on the same time.
INQUIRER.net already reached out with the management of the LRT-2 regarding the Independence Day perk but no feedback yet coming from their side.
