Indian national nabbed for rape of coed he met online in Valenzuela City
MANILA, Philippines — An Indian national is now behind bars after the Valenzuela City police collared him early Wednesday morning for raping a 20-year-old college student he met online and detaining her 28-year-old friend.
In a report, police said suspect Praveenkuamar Karunaneeth, 24, a medical student, invited the victim only identified as “Carla” in his house along Bautista Street in Marulas after they met through an online dating app earlier Tuesday.
Carla and her female companion showed up at the suspect’s house around 10 p.m. Tuesday and decided to have a drink. After a glass of beer, however, the victim said she suddenly fell dizzy. The suspect then allegedly led her to his bedroom to sleep.
Meanwhile, the victim’s friend went to the toilet and later could not go out as she was allegedly locked from the outside by the suspect.
When she finally managed to get out, she rushed to the suspect’s room where she saw Carla half-naked. She also said she saw the suspect molesting Carla at that point.
