Advisory councils to boost PNP-community relations

MANILA, Philippines — Local advisory councils will help boost relations between law enforcers and communities, an official from Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Wednesday.

“This is the first time na na-involve yung ating advisory council magkaroon ng [relations] ang Philippine National Police [PNP] and local government units [LGU],” Brig. Gen Noel Baraceros,  director of PNP Center for Police Strategy Management (CPSM), said in a press briefing at the Eastern Police District’s (EPD) 1st Advisory Council Summit.

Baraceros explained that advisory councils are composed of more than 70,000 leaders from business, religious and academic sectors nationwide.

The summit will help in improving “crime prevention, crime solution.”

Information sharing

Joseph Aaron Miravalles, chairman of EPD’s Advisory Council, said the summit will also conduct information sharing of advisory councils and law enforcers on “peace and order.”

“The inputs suggestions of the heads and advisory councils will be representing the society for a truthful and successful summit,” Miravalles said in his presentation.

“In this summit, emphasis will be given on the Patrol Plan 2030, peace and order agenda,” he added.

Miravalles was referring to PNP Patrol Plan 2030 which is a long-term plan of the agency to ensure safety of the public. (Editor: Julie Espinosa)
