BACOLOD CITY–Three houses were destroyed while 16 others were damaged when a tornado ripped through three barangays in San Enrique town, Negros Occidental on Sunday.
No one was injured, said Elenita Amen, Municipal Risk Reduction Management officer.
The San Enrique municipal government has provided assistance to residents whose houses were destroyed or damaged by the tornado, which was reportedly accompanied by hail or small pieces of ice.
A tornado is described as a rapidly rotating column of air that is in contact with both the surface of the Earth and a cumulonimbus cloud or, in rare cases, the base of a cumulus cloud.
In March 5, 2019, a tornado also hit 20 houses and ripped off parts of the roof of a community rice mill, also in San Enrique. (Editor: Jonathan P. Vicente)
