CA confirms 1 JBC member, 50 military officers before adjournment

MANILA, Philippines— Before adjourning sine die this Tuesday, the powerful Commission on Appointments (CA) confirmed the ad interim appointment of a new member of the Judicial Bar and Council (JBC) and the promotions of 50 military officers.

The CA confirmed retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Noel Tijam as JBC member, representing the academe, for a term expiring on July 9, 2022.

The promotions of 50 military officials, including three commanders—Vice Admiral Rene Medina of Western Command, Lieutenant General Felimon Santos Jr. of Eastern Mindanao Command, and Lieutenant General Gilbert Gapay of Southern Luzon Command—were also confirmed by the Commission.
