Drug suspect killed in Lucena sting
LUCENA CITY – Police shot dead a drug suspect during a buy-bust operation here on Saturday, authorities reported on Sunday.
Fidel Galvez, 43, was killed in a reported shootout after he allegedly sold “shabu” (crystal meth) to an undercover police officer in Barangay (village) Dalahican at about 5:10 p.m., Colonel Ramil Montilla, Quezon police chief, said.
The suspect was about to be arrested when he reportedly resisted and drew his caliber .45 “paltik” (home-made gun), opened fire buy missed his target.
The undercover police officer returned fire and killed the suspect on the spot.
Recovered from the slain suspect were a sachet of shabu worth an estimated P400 and his gun.
The casualty, police said, also provided financial assistance to other drug peddlers who cater to fishermen, dock workers, tricycle drivers and out of school youths in the coastal village. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
