Cynthia Villar on Senate presidency: ‘Depende’
MANILA ,Philippines — Senator Cynthia Villar denied talks of her possible run for the top post in the Senate but said she would think about it if the so-called “HnP” bloc would call her to a meeting.
Neophyte Senator Imee Marcos earlier disclosed that some were lobbying to push for Villar as Senate President.
But Villar brushed it aside, saying no one has approached her yet to discuss the Senate presidency.
“Hindi naman, wala namang ganun,” she said in an interview Thursday.
Unlike others who are easily encouraged to run for Senate’s top post, Villar said she thinks hard on what she should do.

The five PDP-Laban senators are party president Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel, Senators Manny Pacquiao, Christopher “Bong” Go, Ronald dela Rosa, and Francis Tolentino.
“If ever in the future tinawag nila ako at mag meeting then that’s the time I’ll think about it…,” Villar said.
Does this mean she is not closing her doors on the possibility of running for the Senate presidency?
“Depende. Everything – you have to think about when it comes ‘di ba?” Villar said, “It doesn’t follow that you like it but you have to give it a thought.”
The reelected senator stressed that running the Senate is a big responsibility.
Previously, however, Villar said she is not interested in the Senate presidency as she prefers to stay as chair of the Senate committees on agriculture, and environment.
