MANILA, Philippines — Outgoing senator and incoming Antique Rep. Loren Legarda has only three things to advise incoming new members of the Senate.
“Study, study study. Learn, learn, learn. Work, work, work,” Legarda said in a Kapihan at the Senate forum on Thursday.
“That’s my mantra. That’s how it’s been in school, that’s how it’s been in journalism, in broadcast as producer and anchor. That’s how it’s been for 18 years at the Senate. That’s how it will be in Congress and beyond,” she added.
A three-term senator, Legarda said there is “no substitute for hard work.”
“Whether you are a journalist, you’re a cameraman, you’re a police, you’re a teacher, you’re a forester, firefighter, nothing can substitute for hard work,” she said.
The outgoing senator will be graduating from the Senate on June 30 and will assume her new post at the lower House by July.
Four neophyte senators are set to enter the Senate in the 18th Congress.
