Makati to close some roads for Flores de Mayo

MANILA, Philippines — Several roads in Makati City will be closed to vehicular traffic on Friday to give way to the Flores de Mayo procession.

In an advisory on Wednesday, the local government of Makati said it would implement road closures and traffic rerouting plans from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

It said the Flores de Mayo procession route will start from the Makati City Hall Quadrangle to the Globe Circuit Event Ground via Hormiga, Trabajo, Hippodrome, and A.P. Reyes Streets.

The assembly would start at 1 p.m. while the program will start at 4 p.m. The procession will start an hour later.

The traffic rerouting scheme will be as follows:

Vehicles along N. Garcia Street coming from Kalayaan Avenue: (Eastbound heading towards Rockwell area and Guadalupe Nuevo)

For vehicles along J.P. Rizal Avenue coming from Rockwell area/Edsa: (Westbound heading towards Makati City Hall and Delpan Street, Manila)

The Makati City government is not expecting traffic congestion along J.P. Rizal Avenue. However, a “stop and go” scheme will be implemented along A.P. Reyes Street to give way to the procession. Traffic cones will be installed to manage traffic in the area.

It also assured that normal traffic flow is expected to resume by 7 p.m. Traffic enforcers will be deployed in affected areas to assist the traffic. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
