MANILA, Philippines— Newly-elected Senator Imee Marcos is said to be eyeing the chairmanship of the Senate committee on ways and means.
The committee is currently being headed by Senator Sonny Angara.
“What I heard is that Imee Marcos is interested in the ways and means,” Sotto said over ABS CBN News Channel on Tuesday.
Sotto said Angara is being considered to replace outgoing Senator Loren Legarda as head of the Senate committee on finance. Legarda was elected new representative of Antique province.
“The finance committee, nobody wants to take it so we’re going to elect Senator Sonny Angara to the finance committee whether he likes it or not,” Sotto said.
Angara, he said, may be elected as the new head of the Senate committee on finance which will be vacated by outgoing Senator Loren Legarda.
Sotto said nobody also wants to take the chairmanship of the ways and means committee so they would just probably elect the senator who they think will be good for the job.
He said this even after he mentioned that Marcos was interested to lead the committee. (Editor: Mike U. Frialde)
