Consul General Prospero dies in Canada

All DFA consular offices closed on election day

MANILA, Philippines — Consul General Rosalita Sayoc Prospero has passed away, the Philippine Consulate General said Tuesday night.

In a post on its official Facebook page, the Consulate General said that Prospero died in Toronto early Tuesday morning.

The Consulate General described Prospero as a “career diplomat who dedicated her life in the service of our country and its people.”

The Consulate General said Prospero’s remains would be flown to the Philippines “in accordance to her wishes.”

Details of the memorial service, the office added, will be released in due course.

Prospero served as Executive Director of the Office of the American Affairs of the Department of Foreign Affairs before she assumed her post as Consul General in Toronto last May 24, 2015.

She also held previous diplomatic positions in Sydney and Paris. (Editor: Cenon B. Bibe Jr.)
