MANILA, Philippines – Over 7,000 police officers will be deployed in Metro Manila to secure schools and students when school year 2019-2020 opens on Monday, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said on Tuesday.
In a statement, NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said the law enforcers will be posted in the vicinity of schools and crime-prone areas.
Eleazar said the Philippine National Police will also strictly enforce traffic laws and accost drivers of overloaded tricycles, motorcycles, jeepneys and other school service vehicles.
“We will also implement an NCR-wide enforcement of traffic laws versus overloaded tricycles, motorcycles, jeepneys and other school service vehicle in line with our ‘Oplan Disiplina’ for the protection of our school children,” Eleazar said.
The NCRPO coordinated with local government units, the Department of Education and other concerned government offices to ensure enhanced traffic management and other public safety services in Metro Manila, Eleazar added.
Eleazar also advised the public to report any suspicious activities or individuals to the nearest police station and police assistance desks. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
