2 suspected robbers killed in Manila police encounter

MANILA, Philippines– Two suspected robbers were killed in a shootout with police in Ermita, Manila early Tuesday.

Police identified the suspects as Allan Damalong, 38, and Michael Dequiñon, 21.

According to initial investigation, victims Carmela Dionisio, 46, and Marvin Salcedo, 27, were walking near Natividad Lopez Street in Ermita when the suspects, who were riding a motorcycle, approached and declared the robbery at 2:36 a.m.

Officers of the Manila Police District (MPD) Station 5 led by Lt. Col. Igmedio Bernaldez were alerted of the robbery and were able to pursue the suspects.

Police officers were able to catch up with the robbers at McArthur Bridge in Liwasang Bonifacio where the shootout started and ended with the death of the two suspects.

Recovered from the suspects were two caliber. 38 revolvers, seven empty shells, two deformed slugs and the suspects’ motorcycle.

The bodies of the suspects were brought to the Archangel Funeral Parlor, police said.  (Editor: Mike U. Frialde)
