MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Air Force has grounded its OV-10 light attack aircraft following a plane crash near Sangley Point Airport last week.
“As per safety procedure, they are grounded for inspection,” said Air Force spokesperson Maj. Aristides Galang.
Two pilots safely ejected from an OV-10 when it “encountered a mishap” as it prepared for landing at a military base in Cavite last May 24.
The plane, with tail number 402, figured in an accident while turning crosswind for landing on Runway 25 of Sangley Airport past noon while on a scheduled proficiency flight.
The pilots were recovered by local fishermen 2.5 kilometers from Rosario, Cavite, where they ejected. They were later brought to a hospital.
“Both pilots are fine except for some bruises, contusions and soreness of muscles,” Galang said.
An investigation is underway on the cause of the incident.
