Suspect in stabbing incident nabbed in Occidental Mindoro

CITY OF CALAPAN, ORIENTAL MINDORO, Philippines – Police arrested a man for stabbing his drinking buddy while he was trying to escape on Sunday morning in Calintaan town in Occidental Mindoro province.

Lt. Col. Socrates Faltado, chief of the Mimaropa Police Regional Office, said Manuel Laciste, 24, a farmer and a resident of Rizal town, was arrested while aboard a passenger van at about 9:45 a.m. in Barangay Concepcion.

Initial investigation revealed that Laciste was at Sitio Umbuyan in a drinking spree at about 1 a.m. when he had a heated argument with Antonio Quimoyog, 46, a laborer and a resident of San Jose town. Laciste stabbed Quimoyog, killing him instantly.

Faltado said that police seized a foot-long knife from the suspect.
