San Juan top cop: Beware of con man using my name

MANILA, Philippines – San Juan City police chief Col. Ariel Fulo on Friday warned the public to beware of  a con man using his name to solicit financial favors from unsuspecting individuals in the city.

A statement from the Eastern Police District (EPD) on Friday said that in one incident, the suspect introduced himself as Fulo and demanded P15,000 worth of mobile phone call credits from a San Juan City contractor.

EPD said the contractor gave in to the demand after the individual posing as Fulo contacted him twice.

The contractor, however, could no longer get in touch with the man who claimed to be the San Juan police chief after the transaction.

Fulo or his staff, the EPD stressed, never solicited money or other favors from San Jun businessmen and residents.

“I vehemently condemn solicitation and more so the use of my name and program of the San Juan City Police Station in doing illicit actions that are contrary to law and the interest of the public,” Fulo said in a statement.  (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
