1 dead, 2 hurt after tricycle hits car in Lucena

LUCENA CITY — A tricycle driver was killed and his two passengers injured in an accident along the Maharlika Highway here Thursday night, police said.

Michael Abanilla was driving his tricycle with Angel Theusus Añonuevo, 3, and Ryan David Abanilla, 15, as passengers when their vehicle accidentally slammed on the left side of a Mitsubishi Montero in Barangay Ibabang Iyam around 10:30 p.m.

The tricycle passengers suffered injuries but the driver died while being taken to Quezon Medical Center at the city proper.

Police said the sports utility vehicle was making a U-turn when the tricycle bumped its side.
