MANILA, Philippines — A member of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) charged with multiple murder and multiple frustrated murder was arrested by police operatives in Basilan early Friday morning, a PNP spokesperson said.
Commander Kule Mamagong was arrested in Barangay (village)Tandun Ahas, Basilan City, Basilan around 2:15 a.m., Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz said in a text advisory.
Mamagong was believed to have been under the leadership of the late Abdurajak Janjalani and was allegedly involved in a bombing incident in Kidapawan City in 2006.
The warrant of arrest for Mamagong was issued by Regional Trial Court, 12th Judicial Region in Kidapawan City in 2006.
The suspect has been brought to Zamboanga City for documentation and proper disposition, Cruz said.
