Isabela exports fresh mangoes to Dubai
CAUAYAN CITY — Freshly harvested mangoes from Isabela will soon hit the foreign market in Dubai.
In a maiden mango export trip on Thursday, 1,200-kilogram fresh mangoes packaged in 75 fresh mango-labeled boxes were shipped via a Cebu Pacific plane from Cauayan Domestic Airport to Dubai.
Virginia Dela Fuente, Philippine Mango Industry Foundation Inc. president, said the export to the Middle East was an offshoot of the series of mango conventions, one of which was the 21st National Mango Congress held from March 19 to 21 at the Isabela State University in Echague, Isabela.
“This is a realization of a more productive export of mangoes and we foresee more exports soon in the Middle East and other countries,” Dela Fuente said.
She said there was a global demand for mangoes and that mango growers and traders should seize the opportunities for more exports.
