MANILA, Philippines — The stretch of U.N. Avenue from San Marcelino Street to Taft Avenue in Ermita, Manila is scheduled to be closed on Thursday to give way for the arrival honors of top Philippine National Police (PNP) officials, the Manila Police District (MPD) said.
In an advisory, MPD’s Traffic Enforcement Unit said the stretch of U.N. Avenue will be closed to traffic at 1:30 p.m. onwards.
MPD said the “arrival honors” will be held for Maj. Gen. Rhodel Sermonia, director of Police Community Relations Group, and Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director.
The MPD also implemented a road-rerouting scheme for motorists following the holding of the event:
– All vehicles traveling eastbound of U.N. Avenue shall turn right to Taft Avenue or turn right to Gen. Luna Street to point of destination.
– All vehicles traveling westbound of U.N. Avenue shall turn right to Romualdez Street, or turn left to San Marcelino Street to point of destination.
– All vehicles coming from the San Marcelino Street, intending to utilize westbound lane of U.N. Avenue shall go straight and turn right to Padre Faura Street to point of destination. (Editor: Jonathan P. Vicente)
